Season 1 Press Release is live!

For Immediate Release

Good Egg Productions is proud to announce its first full season, titled “Origin Stories” with Constellations, The Totalitarians, and a new Local Playwrights reading series.

Santa Cruz, CA, 10/1/2026

Good Egg Productions, a new professional theatre collective, based in Santa Cruz and dedicated to the production of creatively invigorating works, is excited to extend its first season due to the exceptional success of its debut production Matt & Ben. In its debut season, titled “Origin Stories,” Good Egg is producing contemporary plays that speak to Santa Cruz’s adult audiences. In February 2027, at the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Santa Cruz, Rebecca Haley Clark (Santa Cruz Shakespeare) will be directing Constellations by Nick Payne. At the start of summer in May 2027, Davis Banta (Actors’ Theatre) will be directing The Totalitarians by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb.

With Constellations, Good Egg Productions is tackling an exciting and dramatic romance set amidst the backdrop of a truly quantum universe. This two-hander, starring Sarah K. Michael and Ian Dyer, will showcase two characters interacting throughout different realities and the infinite possibilities and central truths of this one imperfect relationship. In The Totalitarians, all three founders of Good Egg, Sarah Mitchler, Ian Dyer and Sarah K. Michael, will bring to life the dark comedy of a political race in Nebraska in a near future on the brink of revolution.

“After Matt & Ben we really wanted to take the time to put together a season that would be worthy of the audiences that came out to support us,” said Good Egg co-founder Sarah Mitchler. “We want everyone in Santa Cruz to not just come out to see great plays, but to feel the electricity and excitement of the theater, and the magic that comes from watching actors truly at the top of their craft,” added co-founder Sarah K. Michael. Ian Dyer finished by saying, “With Constellations and The Totalitarians we’ve found the perfect match of material for our collective and the city of Santa Cruz.”

Throughout its debut season, Good Egg will also be expanding by offering three staged readings of works by local playwrights over the course of winter 2026 to summer 2027. Good Egg is excited to also announce that the playwrights for this series include Isaac Ludington with Destiny’s Birthright in November 2026, Andrea Hart with Harvester in January 2027, and Kathryn Chekovich in May 2027.

Good Egg Productions was founded in 2025 with the intention to put on modern works with the goal of keeping in conversation with theater that speaks to contemporary audiences. Its first production Matt & Ben by multi-hyphenate Mindy Kaling and prolific playwright Brenda Withers was a tremendously successful first outing for a new theatre collective looking to engage Santa Cruz’s adult audiences.

Tickets will go on sale soon for an admission fee of $35, and there are plans for rush tickets to be available on the day of the show. Today, audiences can go to goodeggsantacruz.com or follow on instagram @goodeggsantacruz for production updates, announcements, and ticket information.

Good Egg Productions welcomes any media inquiries including newspaper, social media, podcast, or other, and would be excited to discuss any opportunities for coverage and engagement.

THE TOTALITARIANS and CONSTELLATIONS are presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service www.concordtheatricals.com.
